Austerlitz is home to the Edna St Vincent Millay Society, which honors the poet and preserves the house and gardens of Steepletop, her home. A separate organization, Millay Arts (formerly Millay Colony for the Arts), is an artist residency that has hosted thousands of composers, poets, writers, visual artists, playwrights, screenwriters, and filmmakers.
